We'd like to thank our friends at White Bird Appaloosa Rescue for bringing some adorable equine friends to visit during our open house.
White Bird also appreciates volunteers of all kinds as well as donations to help them care for the horses they rescue.

The White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue is a Virginia 501(c)3 non-profit corporation dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abused, neglected and at-risk Appaloosa horses, especially those in danger of slaughter. We provide shelter, care, medical and rehabilitation services to horses in need, and whenever possible, we place them in loving and permanent homes. Horses that cannot or should not be adopted are given permanent sanctuary so that they may live the remainder of their lives in safety and dignity. For more information, please come visit us at our web site: whitebirdapps.com.
Adopting a friendTo adopt a horse from White Bird, you must first contact us for an adoption application. We will ask a number of questions to help us determine whether the horse is suitable for you and whether you can care for him. We will conduct a farm visit and will need references from your veterinarian and farrier. Because of the farm visit requirement, we request that potential adopters be within driving distance, or that arrangements are made with a local rescue to work with us in evaluating your farm. We also require an adoption fee for each horse. These fees offset the costs of procurement, care or medication, but are always far lower than a normal sale price. We also require that if you must give up your horse at any time, he or she be returned to the rescue. We understand that things happen, and we want the best for both our adopters and the animals under our care. If you have any questions during this process, we will be happy to answer them.
